Tilahun Kebede, the head of the government of Southern Ethiopia, said that efforts are being made to prevent the natural disasters that are occurring in different areas of the region by involving the people.
The top leaders of the region, including the head of government, were present at Tipa Kebele in Khao Koisha district of Walayita zone and comforted the people who were injured in the landslide yesterday.
At the same time, Ato Tilahun said that it broke our hearts that there was an additional disaster in the recent severe natural disaster in the Gofa zone in which many people lost their lives. He wished comfort to those who lost their families.
He urged the community to protect themselves and their families from the threat of disaster to prevent further damage from occurring in the area.
He also stressed the need to provide appropriate support to those affected and displaced by the disaster.
He confirmed that the government of the state is coordinating with the people to prevent natural disasters in various areas of the state.
